what I do
Hi, I'm Clament! I'm based in Kochi, Kerala, India (UTC+05:30), working on sendbetter.co - a dynamic image generation API. I founded my own company souk.chat and have made some money too (yay!). I build and sold two products in the past and right now I'm working on my third product - sendbetter
team play
Although I feel like I'm fastest when I work solo, I have plenty of experience working in small to medium sized teams in agile and non-agile environments. I know how to explain technical details to non-tech stakeholders, know how to navigate design hand-offs, and other critical situations.
comms
I'm a very introverted and reserved person. But I've learned to be adaptive which often comes across as an extroverted and non-tech person at first-sight. I know my way around non-tech as well as tech people and enjoy bridging the gap.
family business
I'm part of a family business that's been around for 30 years. I've been involved in the business since I was 25, and have been managing it for the past 5 years. I've a lot of experience in managing people, projects, and budgets.
We have businesses in the food service industry - wholesale and retail. We also have businesses in automotive spare parts, supermarkets, etc.
Personal lore :) / About me
About
I've always had a thing for puzzles, but somewhere in my teens, I realized that traditional puzzle solving just didn't cut it for me anymore. I needed something more. Building actual things with code was the answer.
journey
It actually took me a long time to find my way to engineering. I had to get into a college to be exposed to the world of tech and the freedom it offers.
My adventure began with C during my first year of engineering, and from there, it was a bit of a rollercoaster—I dabbled in embedded, and kernel, improving my understanding of low-level programming, then got my hands dirty exploring the endless possibilities of Python during my uni days, and eventually made my way to JS, TS, and CSS.
past work
I am a self-taught developer and had previously worked in embedded systems. I've worked at startups like ather energy, carnot technologies, and many more.
I joined the family business in 2020 and have been managing it since then.
webdev
Web development, and CSS specifically, seemed rough at first but I immediately fell in love with the endless possibilities and ways you can go off the beaten path easily. I had finally found a platform that let me design stuff, and share it with anyone, anywhere, instantly.
